The Eagle Hotel was built in 1840 by John T. Smith. It was sold to King Foster by Smith's widow in 1888. A stage ran three times a day with mail and passengers to Lodi Point. Second story porches, plate glass windows and a recessed entrance were added in 1910. In 1912 the poperty was acquired by John C. Townsend who changed the name to the Townsend Hotel. The name reverted to Eagle Hotel in 1982. It is presently owned and opperated by Fran Steverson. Many changes have been made including the addition of "The Townsend Room" which serves parties and banquets. This old log house was the first known building in Lodi. It was built in 1803 on the present site of the Eagle Hotel. It served as an Inn until 1840 when the first frame hotel was built. |
